Where’s The Money #16 – Where oh where is Google’s future revenue coming from.

Probably a weird question to ask these days given that Google is the dominant web advertising revenue king, owns a greater than 50% market share in the mobile operating system space and is a leader in mapping software, self-driving cars, established in the social sphere with Google+ and so on and so on.

So what would spark our concern over the ability for this company that generates a very profitable $35 billion per year? Well, disruption baby, that’s what. Technology cycles are cycles for a reason and while Google has won the online advertising game there is disruption in the air and it smells like mobile. How does Google compete when the stakes are much higher and the returns much lower (and dominated by that other mobile behemoth, Apple).
