Where’s The Money #15 – #Utalks Takeaways Douglas Soltys July 6, 2012 Podcast, WTM Welcome to our NEW newest show: “Where’s The Money?”. It is here we try to decipher the way some of the more popular mobile applications and services will generate cold hard cash. The industry is full of promise but only a handful of companies will crack the buck. “Where’s The Money?” is where we put them to the test. We would be remiss if we didn’t hold UNTETHER.talks to the same standards we hold other companies on WTM. So this week, we dive deep into #Utalks: were the lunches delicious, why did the Wi-Fi suck, was it weird to still hear the speakers from the Glenn Gould washrooms, how the hell did two guys put on a two-day conference… Well not quite. Instead, we’ll tackle some of the overarching themes that became part of the conference conversation, and try to understand how they’ll affect business across the tech space. To name a few: Apple has won: the survival and success of its competitors depend on their ability to respond rather than react. Which companies can capitalize on the shift from ‘search’ to ‘find’ to ‘pervasive push’? The importance of culture to create companies that research and execute. Mobile is over. Mobile is not an industry. Your mobile company will soon be out of business. Embrace the future of pervasive technology. If you were a part of the conversation at #Utalks, we’d love to hear your thoughts on our thoughts, so be sure to post a comment. If you weren’t part of the conversation, don’t worry: we’ll be posting snippets from the sessions in the coming weeks.
