m-Pulse #16: Mary Meeker’s state of mobile, Tomi Ahonen’s bold Android prediction + the AppCircus app of the week

m-Pulse is the show that provides companies and mobile developers with everything they need to know to encourage users to download, engage with and monetize their apps.

Episode #16

Released: June 8, 2012
Hosts: Rob Woodbridge & Peggy Anne Salz

Mary Meeker gave the “State of the Internet” address at D10 and with it came her monstrous 110-slide assessment of the Internet union. We take on the herculean task of distilling the essence of her presentation as it relates to the mobile developer and business person.

Our special guest is Tomi Ahonen and in our first segment (of 3!) we discuss the plight of Nokia, the rapid rise of Samsung and the “battle royale” for mobile operating system dominance between iOS, Android and Microsoft – plus why Tomi believes Android’s growth will level out at 60% of the OS market. We also get a glimpse into what he calls the 8th mass medium. The rest of this interview will appear in our next 2 episodes of m-Pulse.

We also continue our app travels with Around the world in 80 Apps, with our new partner, AppCircus. Co-founder Rudy De Waele joins us to talk up Masabi, a London UK based mobile ticketing company.
