This week:
Story No. 1
RIM. RIM and more RIM. With the clearly (but not unexpected) dismal quarterly results RIM posted this week, we dive into the illness that plagues the company and what, in our humble opinions, this company needs to do to remain relevant. The one thing we both agree on is that this company epitaph has NOT been written. For a little preview of our discussion, I wrote this article after seeing the results of RIM’s first missed quarter in 6 years.
Story No. 2
Application discovery…One of the greatest challenges an app maker has these days is being found and Yahoo! believes they can help. Can Yahoo! compete with the likes of Chomp.com, Amazon and the plethora of App Stores, App Worlds and App Marketplaces doing discovery already? We aren’t sure about the business model for 3rd party discovery companies yet – hence the discussion.
Story No. 3
Cross-platform development is a resource and strategic decision that shouldn’t be taken lightly. Do you go feature deep on one platform or platform deep with a simple set of features for the greatest reach and impact? We finish this week off talking about this very issue and why it shouldn’t be half-baked decision.
All this and much much more – with a few detours of course.
