Ringleadr: Building a better Groupon by reversing the business model – with co-founder Mike Davis

How does a company differentiate itself in a very crowded discount and coupon market dominated by companies like Groupon, LivingSocial and Facebook?

That’s why I asked Mike Davis, the co-founder of Ringleadr.com on to UNTETHER.tv. Ringleadr is a reverse Groupon where consumers decide what discount to what company they would like and propose it to that company for approval. This is a pretty great approach and, done right, the mobile play could be huge, drive off-peak trafic to stores and put more power right in the hands of the consumer.

Enjoy!

About Mike Davis

Mike Davis
Mike Davis has a 9 year history of leading local e-commerce businesses starting in 2002 by helping to build the largest and most popular online food ordering network for college students. After 7 years of growing the network to over 450 Universities and over 5,000 local restaurant partners, Mike co-founded CalendarCoeds.com, an online contest where college aged coeds can compete for prizes and on-campus celebrity status. In 2008, Mike co-founded MeetNowLive.com, a pioneering mobile location-based social network that let users check into bars and clubs in New York City while receiving rewards for doing so. After selling MeetNowLive in 2010, Mike founded Outng.com, a soon-to-be-launched website that helps individuals plan small, medium and large events by directly connecting users to the local businesses that help make them happen through one simple interface. Consider Outng.com the OpenTable for everything you can cram into one amazing night out. In late 2010, to alleviate all of the pain associated with the current daily deals model, Mike co-founded Ringleadr.com, allowing users to create only the deals they want only for the local businesses they care about. Mike grew up on the New Jersey Shore and currently resides on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.
