How do you take a hunch for an idea and make it into a business? That’s what Boris Bogatin did with LoKast, detailed in another UNTETHER.tv session from last fall (found here). But what has happened since is the focus of this follow-up episode.
We spend this session talking about the evolution of the “proximity Internet” and how LoKast has adapted to the accelerated competition and changes to their product based on customer and industry feedback. What is it to be in a startup in an evolving and undefined space? How does a hunch build a business? Where does LoKast go from here? How will they make money?

About Boris Bogatin
Boris Bogatin founded NearVerse to create LoKast and build the proximity Internet, and heads up the company as the CEO. LoKast is a mobile app for digitally enabling the physical world – allowing users to easily discover people and spaces, right where they are, connect and share media with others there, and overall better experience their physical settings. Boris has led NearVerse to also package the best app capabilities, technology system, and network for proximity Internet, within it’s best-of-breed proximity platform, which is used to power LoKast.
Previously, Boris helped start LightSquared and was the VP of Corporate Development and Technology Strategy for the company. Boris helped grow LightSquared from a $200 million company at its start into a U.S. wholesale, all-LTE wireless network powering the wireless offers of some of the biggest Internet and consumer companies in U.S. Boris graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with finance, operations management, and systems engineering degrees. In his spare time, Boris teaches his 3 year old son calculus and spends time in the physical world (mostly as an excuse to do primary research).
